SMS terms

Effective January 1, 2027. Program name: PXCMail secure message codes.

Program description

PXCMail sends text messages for one purpose: to let a person open a secure message that a practice, firm or adviser sent them, without an account or an app. When a recipient opens the notification email and chooses “text me a code”, we send a one-time code to the number the sender supplied or the recipient entered. Entering the code opens the message in the browser. Separately, if you book an onboarding call or similar appointment with us on our website or in the console and tick the reminder box, we may send a reminder text for that appointment. That is the whole program. We do not send marketing texts, surveys or newsletters by SMS.

What we send

  • One-time codes to open a secure message a practice or firm sent you through PXCMail, when you choose “text me a code” on the reading page. These are transactional and sent only on your request. Each code works once and expires after a short period; if it expires, request a new one from the same page.
  • Optional reminders (for example, a scheduled onboarding call) only if you opted in on our website or in the console.

Consent

You consent to a one-time code by requesting it: choosing “text me a code” is the request, and no code is sent otherwise. You consent to reminders by ticking the reminder box when you book; the box is unticked by default. If a sender entered your number for a secure message, we use it only to deliver the code you request and to keep the audit record of that message; we do not add it to any list. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase, and a recipient who prefers not to use SMS can always choose “email me a code” instead.

Frequency and cost

Message frequency varies: typically one code per secure message you open, and never more than one reminder per appointment. Message and data rates may apply according to your carrier plan. We do not charge recipients for messages.

Opt out and help

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving reminders; you will get one confirmation text and nothing further. Codes are sent only when you request one; if you do not want codes by text, choose “email me a code” instead, and the sender’s message opens the same way. Reply HELP or email [email protected] for assistance. For help with the content of a message, contact the practice or firm that sent it; we cannot read it for you.

Privacy

We store the phone number and the code event for the audit record of the message (see the Privacy Policy). The sender can see that a code was sent and that the message was opened, not the code itself. We do not sell phone numbers or use them for marketing. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The number and code are passed to our SMS delivery service, listed on the subprocessors page, solely to deliver the text; the message content never leaves our service.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Messages are sent from 10DLC-registered US numbers by PacinfraX Corporation, 19900 MacArthur Boulevard, Suite 915, Irvine, CA 92612. If a text does not arrive, choose “email me a code” on the same page.

Example

Lakeside Family Dental sends a treatment plan to a patient as a locked message. The patient gets an email notification, opens it on her phone and chooses “text me a code”. The code arrives, she enters it, and the plan opens. Lakeside’s audit trail records the notification, the code request and the open, which is what the practice needs for its HIPAA record. The patient receives no further texts.

FAQ

Why did I get a code I did not request?

Someone with your number may have requested it on a reading page, or the sender entered the wrong number. The code is useless without the notification email. Reply STOP or email [email protected] and we will investigate with the sender.

Can my practice send patients appointment reminders through PXCMail SMS?

No. The SMS program is limited to secure-message codes and our own appointment reminders. Patient reminders come from your practice-management system.

Does STOP block secure-message codes?

STOP ends reminders. Codes are sent only when you request them on a reading page, so there is nothing recurring to block; choose “email me a code” if you prefer no texts at all.

Are messages available in Spanish?

Yes. Notifications and reading pages are available in English and Spanish, and the code text follows the language of the reading page.
